Founded in 1965 by specialists in electricity, the company Socabelec is today integrating tools and equipments in the following fields: automation, robotics, mechanics, electronics and electricity.
Socabelec pursues two missions:
- To offer proximity industrial services: to meet the needs (cabling, optical fibre, robotics, automation) of industrial companies (glass, quarries, cement works, chemists, …) in a radius of 300 kilometres.
- To offer specific industrial services to international glass producers and so to meet the specific needs of the glass industry all around the world. Thanks to its glass specialisation acquired in the silice Valley, , Socabelec has a real competitive asset in this matter.
History
At the beginning, the company made electrical cabling in the industry. In the 1980’s, it took on its first academic. Then it moved towards higher added value fields like: computer assisted design of sophisticated electrical sketches, integration of PLC (Programmable Logic Control) in supervision systems of production process.
After 1990, the company developed its first research unit, and from 1995, became integrator in industrial automation and robotics.
In 1997, true to its skill’s integrator, Socabelec offers services both to a proximity market located in the heart of the Silice Valley and to international markets too.
Philosophy
PTo carry out its objectives, Socabelec is based on strategic values:
- The competence : for every technique field, success is possible thanks to the competence. Socabelec wants to offer its customers reliable technologies in accordance to the most recent knowledge.
- The flexibility : an industrial production chain is never standard and can never stop. Socabelec has to be able to solve unique problems.
- People : even if the production is automated, it has to be managed by people. Socabelec is a person to person services company.
- The technology : In order production costs in Belgium are economically tolerable, Socabelec must be in the forefront of the technologic know-how.
Organisation
The headquarter of Socabelec is located in Jemeppe-sur-Sambre, in the heart of the Sillice Valley. In this area, Socabelec owns different entities:
- SOCABELEC : turnkey automated production lines and proximity services (maintenance, cabling, …)
- MECAFLUIDE : mechanics, machinery conception and robotics
- MECAPEINTURE : first quality industrial painting
- MECAWAL high-sized mechanical constructions
Moreover, to insure an optimal presence, we have two subsidiary companies :
- SOCAFO (France) (optical fibre cables)
- SOCABELEC EAST AFRICA (Kenya) (power supply equipments) www.socabelec.co.ke
At the moment, about a hundred persons work for Socabelec. Thanks to an efficient structure, everybody works with a unique goal: to offer a unique solution for each project, always meeting the specific need of every customer.
